Empowering Young Minds: The Impact of Young Ladies Loving Themselves

In a world where self-doubt and negativity can easily creep in, it’s heartening to see initiatives that focus on empowering young minds. At Detroit Premier Academy, two dedicated teachers, Tiffani Wilkins and Lakeytra Coleman, have taken it upon themselves to revive an extracurricular experience from their own youth, with the aim of inspiring and mentoring their students. The result is Young Ladies Loving Themselves (YLLT), a group that has been making waves in the lives of its participants. In this blog post, we’ll delve into the world of YLLT and explore the impact it’s having on the students involved.

The photographer, who grew up with chickens, couldn’t resist the chance to combine work and play. This fun shoot allowed her to restock her holiday card photos, get her fix of “chicken snuggles,” and entertain her team. The result was a fun and entertaining experience for all involved, with some hilarious bloopers to show for it. The photographer’s passion for chickens and creativity made for a truly one-of-a-kind photo shoot that’s sure to bring a smile to your face.

But for some, it’s a passion that goes beyond mere functionality. My wife, for instance, was absolutely “chicken crazy” when we first brought home our feathered friends. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and it’s a joy that many can relate to. If you’re considering joining the ranks of backyard chicken enthusiasts, you’re in for a treat.

This is where our chickens live—their very own custom-built home here in Pleasant Valley. We designed and built this coop ourselves, learning plenty along the way. When we first started, we had just 12 hens, excited to collect our first eggs. Fast forward to today, and our flock has grown to 3 roosters and around 22 hens (we’ve honestly lost count at this point). It’s been quite the adventure watching our little homestead grow!
